Always #LikeAGirl advertisement. What advice do you have for young girls who are told they run like a girl, shoot like a girl, swim like a girl?

"Keep doing it, because it’s working. If somebody else says that running like a girl or kicking like a girl or shooting like a girl is something that you shouldn’t be doing, that’s their problem. Because if you’re still scoring, if you’re still getting to the ball on time and you’re still being first, you’re doing it right and it doesn’t matter what they say. Yes, I kick like a girl, I swim like a girl, I walk like a girl and I wake up in the morning like a girl because I AM a girl. And that is not something I should be ashamed of."

I know people say these adverts are still trying to sell you something and are just using new tactics to do so, but I still feel that they make an impact.

Why can run like a girl also mean win the race?

So I A) know that this is a total marketing/money making gimmick, B) totally don’t have the money to do this and C) realize that training for a January race in the Vancouver rain is going to kind of suck. But in the end there was just NO WAY was going to miss the first Star Wars 1/2 Marathon.
In fact I’m such a sucker I signed up for the Rebel Challenge - 10K on Saturday, 1/2 Marathon on Sunday.  I’m a little afraid to admit how ridiculously stoked I am!

First race of the season in the bank. 4th in age group, 7th place female. Training buddy Alli and I had a full-blown game of (probably totally rule-breaking) tag on the bike, but she unleashed her run and whooped my butt. Way to win our age group and continue your PB streak Alli!

Motivated and pumped - even got to Masters swim this morning with zero whining.

Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal. Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep travelling honestly along life’s path.
